The key to successful endodontic treatment after diagnosis is that clinicians’ can use their knowledge of root canal anatomy in interpretation and assessment of the tooth being treated via 2D or 3D radiography. In this one-day hands-on course, we will be focusing on appropriate case selection, in-depth understanding of root canal anatomy, access preparations, simple tips and trick to locate canal orifices using appropriate magnification and achieve appropriate glidepath.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Understanding concepts of root canal anatomy.
  • Learning various access cavity designs based on root canal anatomy.
  • Assessing 2D and 3D radiographs for treatment planning/ assessing case difficulty/complexity and how it aids in locating canal orifices.
  • Concepts of conservative mechanical instrumentation  - newer rotary/reciprocating systems for predictably achieving glide path and patency.
  • Introduction to use of microscopes, magnification and illumination and how they help achieve predictable canal location.
  • Importance of Disinfection in Endodontics and how to improve irrigation techniques and efficiency.
  • Intracanal medicaments and temporisation.

This course will have a significant hands- on component, focusing on access preparation, instrumentation for glide path and trying various disinfection techniques.

Dr Gaurav Vasudeva is a Specialist Endodontist based in Applecross.

Gaurav moved to Australia in 2012, where he worked primarily in private practice in Sydney and later served in a clinical lead role for Tasmanian Oral Health Services. Between 2014 – 2018 he held Adjunct Sr. Lecturer appointments with University of Queensland and James Cook University. He moved to Perth in 2019. He has a special interest in using newer technologies like CBCT in diagnosis and treatment planning, minimal invasive endodontics, and applications of LASERS in dentistry. He is currently pursuing an Masters degree in Laser Dentistry.
